Dogwalkers in their sixties and their pet have died following a crash involving a BMW.

A man and woman were walking along Thurnham Lane in Bearsted near Maidstone on Saturday afternoon when the accident happened.

The driver of a black X5 was involved in a collision with the pedestrians at about 1.40pm, police say.

Officers attended the scene along with South East Coast Ambulance Service where they and their dog were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any other information or dashcam footage prior to, or at the time of the collision, is urged to call Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538.

Thurnham Lane was closed yesterday afternoon while emergency services worked at the scene.
