The inspiration behind Afference’s technology came from work with limb loss patients, leading to a profound understanding of how to communicate with the nervous system for a tactile sensation. “In virtual reality, it’s similar. We don’t feel it. How do we add that touch and feel or that sense of feeling?” Dr Tyler explained.
Afference’s mission is to seamlessly blend the virtual and real world by restoring the critical element of touch. Currently seeking development partners, Afference is working towards making their technology more accessible and integrating it into existing virtual reality and spatial computing devices.
