Cadi Froehlich clinched the win during last night’s episode with her “Come Rain or Shine” gluggle jugs.

Gluggle jugs, which are usually fish-shaped, make a “glug glug” sound when you pour from them.

The colourful hand coiled pieces, which were based on the corkwing wrasse fish, were a tribute to her younger sister Kirsty.

“I’m dedicating my jugs to my sister and she loves sailing,” said the 50-year-old.

“They’re going to be on life rings because that’s how my sister feels to me sometimes on my dark days.

“Mine will have rain symbols on it and hers will have sun symbols on it giving me a positive message in turn because through good and bad we’ve got each other’s backs.”

Judge Keith Brymer Jones became visibly emotional when presented with Cadi’s jugs.

“It’s fantastic,” he said. “It’s really really fantastic.

“I love everything about them. I love the flags on there they tell your story.

“And this is inspired because you’ve managed to give us that life ring but it’s really lovely and rounded.

“These are practical items and you’ve really thought about them.”

Fellow judge Richard Miller was also impressed.

“They’re extraordinarily beautiful,” he said.

“And what a fitting tribute to your sister. The quality of the build is outstanding. The decoration is extraordinary.

“Using this amount of colour on a single item could have been a car crash but you’ve managed to create something that feels joyous.

“We gave you three hours to decorate and it looks like you spent three weeks on them there’s so much on them.”

Cadi also performed well in the technical challenge where the 11 remaining potters were tasked with creating three identical bud vases blindfolded.

The mum of two placed fourth.

Reacting to the judge’s comments Cadi said: “I was blown away by the judge’s comments and the joy was leaking from my eyeballs.

“Maybe I should stop being so hard on myself.”

Cadi’s gluggle jugs were placed in the Throw Down gallery.

The Great Pottery Throw Down is on Sundays at 7.45pm on Channel 4.
