The changing places facility opposite the Dome Cinema on the promenade in Worthing was broken into and had its toilet bowl smashed.

The toilet also had to be closed in November after it was damaged.

Worthing Borough Council said the facility, which is a larger, accessible toilet with specialist access equipment to support those with mobility issues, was vandalised last week.

It will remain closed until repairs to the toilet bowl have taken place.

The council said it is the ninth attack on the town’s public toilets and is costing thousands to repair.

Another act of vandalism has also seen one of the cubicles at the facilities at the lido shut.

“This damage forms part of a series of nine attacks on Worthing’s public toilets, which is not only leaving our residents and visitors temporarily with fewer facilities, but also costing us thousands of pounds in repairs,” a council spokesman said.

“We have reported this latest act of vandalism to Sussex Police and ask anyone with information to please report it quoting the reference number 47230252124.”
