A short section of Ferry Road in Renfrew, near Braehead, has been closed at its junction with Campbell Street and King’s Inch Road following a burst on a 700mm rising sewer main earlier today (January 5).

A clean-up operation has been carried out and the area made safe by Scottish Water’s main contractors George Leslie, while plant and materials are mobilised ahead of excavation works beginning on Saturday, January 6.

Road users are being urged to follow diversions and allow extra time for travel.

Tankers are in operation to minimise the impact of the burst on the environment and Scottish Water are liaising with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency.

Waste water services are unaffected.
