Train services could be delayed by up to an hour or cancelled this morning due to urgent repairs along the Uckfield line.

Signalling faults and repairs between Uckfield, Buxted and Crowborough have caused services between London Bridge and Uckfield to terminate at Crowborough.

Tickets are being accepted at no extra cost on Brighton and Hove Buses routes 29 and 29A between Lewes, Crowborough and Tunbridge Wells, Southeastern services between Tunbridge Wells and London, London Underground via any reasonable route, and alternative Southern services via any reasonable route.

Govia Thameslink Railway, which operates Southern, Thameslink and Gatwick Express services, said it hopes the disruption will end by 10am.

Several roads have been blocked due to fallen trees and flooding overnight.

The A22 northbound in Polegate has been closed due to a fallen tree, while floodwater along some roads in Alfriston and Piltdown, near Uckfield, has made roads impassable.

A number of homes are also still without power this morning, with outages continuing in parts of Rye, Shoreham, and Southwater, near Horsham.
