Emergency services were called to the scene in Brighton at around 8pm on New Year’s Eve and discovered a badly damaged blue Citroen Saxo on its roof.

The air ambulance touched down in the park at 8.20pm where it remained until 9.06pm.
More than a dozen rescue workers were tasked with freeing the person from inside the vehicle and it is understood the process was a success, however it is not known how many occupants were in the car or the extent of their injuries.

The rescue operation was made difficult by the darkness and crews used high-powered lighting in a bid to illuminate the area.
Large chunks of tree trunk could be seen in the area surrounding the vehicle.
Sussex Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service and the air ambulance were contacted for comment.
