The Ford Fiesta driver is alleged to have hit two parked cars, causing significant damage.

He was apprehended by police after fleeing the scene. He remains in custody.

A spokeswoman for Sussex Police said: “Police were called to a report that a Ford Fiesta car had hit two stationary vehicles in Coopers Hill, Willingdon, at about 4.07am on Sunday, December 31.

“On arrival, the vehicles were blocking the road and the driver of the Ford Fiesta had made off.

“He was later traced to an address in Eastbourne and arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle while unfit through alcohol/and or drugs. He remains in custody.

“No one was hurt during the incident.”

The parked cars were a blue Peugeot estate and a blue Toyota Aygo. The back wheel of the Peugeot was caved in and the Toyota’s bonnet was badly damaged.
