Police responded to the antisocial behaviour at Shoreham Health Centre in Pond Road.

The clinic said a group of youths who regularly gather in the car park and lobby of the medical centre caused a “serious incident” involving a member of staff – which follows “several previous episodes” by the same group.

In response, the ground-level doors from the car park and from Western Road will be locked from 5 pm from now on.

The main entrance on the upper level of the clinic will be open until 6.30 pm.

A spokesman said: “We understand that this will cause inconvenience mainly to those of you needing a barrier-free access, and we are working on a safe system how to overcome this issue. Meantime, we would like to kindly ask you to use the ramp by the library to access the health centre. We will be keeping you updated.

“We are truly sorry for the inconvenience, however, the safety of our colleagues and our patients is paramount.”
