The driver was dropping off parcels in Brighton when he was approached by two men who threatened him with a weapon before driving away in the van.

Sussex Police said the driver was delivering Christmas presents around the Withdean area of the city on Monday morning.

The van was carrying a number of packages still to be delivered.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said they are appealing for anybody with doorbell or dash cam footage to come forward.

“An incident was reported in Wayland Avenue, Withdean, shortly before midday on Monday, December 18.

“Previously the vehicle had made a previous stop in Dyke Road before travelling towards Wayland Avenue via Tongdean Drive,” the spokesman said.

The first suspect is described as a skinny white man who is 5 ft 8 inches tall with short brown hair. He was seen wearing a brown jacket, yellow T-shirt and navy blue trousers, with a black Beanie hat with a red 3M logo.

The second suspect is a white man of athletic build who was also 5 ft 8 inches with short brown hair. He was wearing a blue denim jacket with a white wool collar trim, a white T-shirt, light blue trousers and a gold necklace.

Witnesses or anyone in the area with relevant dashcam or CCTV footage is asked to come forward.
