Gusts of more than 30mph are predicted for Brighton tomorrow ahead of the annual event which marks the winter solstice.
Organisers Same Sky said the event is moving forward as planned but urged people attending to “layer up and dress accordingly for strong winds”.
“Our production team is meticulously planning for the weather conditions to ensure public safety and deliver an exceptional event,” a spokesman said.
Held every year on December 21, Burning the Clocks marks the shortest day of the year with a parade of people carrying paper and willow lanterns, which are then thrown into a blazing bonfire as a token of the year’s end.
This year’s theme is clocks, which will be reflected in the lanterns made by the community for the parade.
The parade starts after 6pm, setting off from Brighton Dome before snaking through the city to arrive at the beach.
The event, which is free to attend, will culminate in a fireworks display and a bonfire on the beach at around 7.30pm.
