Level Up, described as a “safe, fun and challenging activity for children and families”, will be built at Withdean Sport Complex and will be available in the new year.
The play area, a joint venture between Brighton and Hove City Council, will be built to match a “huge demand” and help to promote physical activity in children.
Councillor Alan Robins chairman of the Culture, Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Economic Development committee, said: “There’s a huge demand for indoor soft play facilities for children living in our city, so we are delighted that work is now starting at Withdean Sports Complex.

“Ensuring that children are physically active from an early age is really important for their growth and development, so having a facility that is fun, social, and challenging will bring huge benefits for families living in the city, now and in years to come.”
The site will also include spectator seating, accessible toilets and a baby changing unit.
The council said the plans were part of a wider aim to turn the Withdean complex into a “major sport and leisure hub”.
