Daniel Gall, 25, Fabian Kelly-Riley, 22, and Gianni Hippooite, 21, are accused of attempting to murder 63-year-old Michael Bell in Brunswick Place, Hove.

Mr Bell was stabbed twice, once “millimetres from his heart” and another time near his bowel area during an altercation outside a flat at around 7.25am on November 8 this year.

He was put into a medically induced coma following the incident and had a heart attack after recovering, Lewes Crown Court heard.

The three men were later arrested in Kemp Town, Brighton.

They have all pleaded not guilty to attempted murder.

Gall, from Neston Crescent, Neston in Wiltshire, Kelly-Riley, from Mullion Place in Milton Keynes, and Hippooite, from Manor Park Road, Brent in London, are all being remanded in custody.

Gall and Hippooite were both wearing rosary beads hanging over their jumpers while in the dock.

The three men have a trial date set for April 2 at the same court.
