An animal rights protest took place on Saturday, May 31, as part of a demonstration organised by Animal Liberation Scotland (ALS). Police attended a property in Gossops Drive, Gossops Green in Crawley, at around 2.30pm on Saturday (May 31) to arrest a suspect in an ongoing investigation. The suspect resisted arrest and assaulted three officers, causing significant injuries, before fleeing into a nearby property. Mohammed Rasool, 43, of Gossops Drive, was arrested.  He has now been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and two counts each of actual bodily harm and non-fatal strangulation. Following the first-ever event of its kind in 2023, the market hosted the popular event once again for the third time this year. Running from Saturday until Sunday, the family-friendly event, which was free to enter, offered a weekend of flavour, culture, and celebration.  Market-goers experienced a range of stalls selling various items, including authentic Hong Kong cuisine and handcrafted goods. The incident took place outside the Block and Gasket pub in Church Road, Burgess Hill, at around 4.30pm on April 17. A 47-year-old man suffered significant injuries according to Sussex Police.
