Landlords and agents are failing to educate renters when it comes to the energy efficiency rating of their home. New research shows that 60% of private renters do not know the energy efficiency rating of the property they live in and half of tenants are not aware of the standards currently required of landlords. The findings come as the government is considering plans for higher standards in the sector. The property industry has responded positively to the HMRC’s latest property transactions data, which shows that the number of UK residential transactions in May 2025 was 81,470, some 12% lower than May 2024, but 25% higher than April 2025. This marks a 25% increase compared to April 2025. On a non-seasonally adjusted basis, residential transactions surged even more significantly, increasing 42% month-on-month to 80,530. Despite the strong monthly performance, year-on-year comparisons showed a decline. The seasonally adjusted residential figure was 12% lower than in May 2024, while the non-adjusted number was down 13% compared to the same month last year.…
Rea Estates has once again been targeted by far right protesters over false claims its is helping house asylum seekers. Robert McDowell, the director of the Belfast-based estate agency, had his business picketed by demonstrators at the start of last week. This is not the first time that campaigners have targeted the estate agency. The businesses was targeted twice in a week last year, with the agency’s premises rammed by a car on one occassion. Held at Brighton’s Stanmer Park, the Pretty Muddy run took place on Saturday (June 28) while the Race for Life took place on Sunday. On Saturday, 1,239 people took part in Race for Life ‘Pretty Muddy’, clambering over and under obstacles including a scramble net, tunnels, a climbing frame, space hoppers and a giant, inflatable slide into a very dirty mud bath. £100,707 raised was raised at the Pretty Muddy event.
