Microsoft and Chevron announced plans on Monday to develop a 2.67-gigawatt natural gas power plant in West Texas to serve the tech company’s AI and cloud data centers. Under the 20-year power purchase agreement, the plant will provide dedicated electricity to a Microsoft-operated data center. But new research suggests the picture is more complicated, especially in agricultural wetlands where many bird species depend on open landscapes. A team of researchers studying farmland wetlands on the western coast of central Japan found that shelterbelts, rows of trees planted as windbreaks, do not benefit all birds equally. Tata Electronics, an Indian electronics and semiconductor manufacturer and a key supplier to Apple and Tesla, among other tech giants, confirmed a data breach weeks after files purportedly obtained from the company appeared on a hacker forum. The confirmation comes as the hacker forum listing claims to offer more than 630GB of data allegedly stolen from Tata Electronics, comprising over 204,300 files.
