The crash happened on November 15 at around 4pm and was witnessed by an off-duty officer.  A motorcyclist was said to have collided with a van before making off from the scene, according to Sussex police. He was chased on foot and detained following the crash in Heathfield High Street. The teenager, from Buxted, has been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motorcycle, driving without insurance, and failing to stop, and released on bail while the investigation continues.
