But a study led by a University of California, Davis, anthropologist, is shining light on this mystery. Information released by Sussex Police revealed that fines worth over £2 million were issued to motorists on the county’s roads between November 2022 and 2023. The Freedom of Information request by PersonalInjuryClaimsUK.org.uk found that on average around 56 speeding fines were handed out each day.
