It doesn’t matter if the [activity] is happening in blockchain or traditionally.” “[If] somebody is going…
Morrison Formation theropods and their tooth crowns. Credit: PeerJ (2023). DOI: 10.7717/peerj.16327 New research sheds light on the dining habits of ancient carnivorous dinosaurs from Jurassic rocks of the U.S.. A recent study published in PeerJ by Roberto Lei (Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia) and colleagues explores the bite marks left on the ancient bones of the giant long-necked sauropod dinosaurs like Diplodocus and Brontosaurus by carnivorous theropod dinosaurs. Tooth-marked bones provide invaluable insights into the feeding behaviors of long-extinct carnivorous creatures. While it is commonly thought that the giant tyrannosaurs were the primary culprits behind these…

Giskard is a French startup working on an open-source testing framework for large language models. It can alert developers of risks of biases, security holes and a model’s ability to generate harmful or toxic content. While there’s a lot of hype around AI models, ML testing systems will also quickly become a hot topic as regulation is about to be enforced in the EU with the AI Act, and in other countries. The production of ammonia for fertilisers — which has one of the largest carbon footprints among industrial processes — will soon be possible on farms using low-cost, low-energy and environmentally friendly technology. This is thanks to researchers at UNSW Sydney and their collaborators who have developed an innovative technique for sustainable ammonia production at scale. Up until now, the production of ammonia has relied on high-energy processes that leave a massive global carbon footprint — temperatures of more than 400 oC and pressures exceeding 200 atmospheres that account for 2 per cent of the world’s energy and 1.8 per cent…
