Brighton and Hove City Council has pledged to “crack down” on taxi drivers and other road users using taxi ranks as free parking spaces after the chairman of the Brighton Cab Trade Association said it needs to do more to prevent troublesome taxi drivers abusing their licences. Rail bosses have announced the latest timetable change with a huge benefit for commuters and clubbers alike. The lesser-served Preston Park and Hassocks railway stations on the Brighton Main Line will have an extra six services stop in the morning and evening peak after feedback from passengers. The owner of the Labrador, called Duke, was at a shoot on an estate in Midhurst when the dog picked up a partially eaten pheasant carcass. Moments later, Duke started convulsing and foaming at the mouth. Forty minutes later, the dog was dead. Duke was buried the next day.
