Type 2 diabetes is associated with increased risk of kidney stones, but some forms of treatment for this condition may also have the benefit of lowering risk of kidney stones. In a study led by investigators from Mass General Brigham, researchers found that there was an association between the use of sodium-glucose contratransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors and a lower risk of developing kidney stones. Haydn Harper had his dogs off the lead near a children’s play area in Tilgate Park, Crawley. The area is under a Public Space Protection Order which means dogs must be on leads at all times. Crawley Borough Council said one of its officers asked Harper to put the dogs on a lead or leave the area but he refused. He was then given a fixed penalty notice, which was not paid on time.
