Carpetright, which was saved from administration in July, had to cut over 1,500 jobs. The retailer, headquartered in Essex, was purchased by rival Tapi for an undisclosed amount, saving more than 300 jobs and 54 stores. A 47-year-old man allegedly stole a quantity of butchered meat from a supermarket at 7:40 p.m. on Saturday, August 3. He was subsequently apprehended in the Clydebank area after officers heard him attempting to sell the stolen steaks. Upon searching the man, the stolen meat was reportedly recovered.
