Residents of Downland Park, a static home site in Newhaven, are contesting a planning application by the park’s owner seeking “use of land as a caravan site without restrictions or conditions.” According to residents, the owner installed an extra static home on the property without permission in 2020, a move that Lewes District Council challenged. Folkestone Invicta has confirmed the signing of 20-year-old midfielder Josh Chambers, recently released by Gillingham. Carpetright, which was saved from administration in July, had to cut over 1,500 jobs. The retailer, headquartered in Essex, was purchased by rival Tapi for an undisclosed amount, saving more than 300 jobs and 54 stores. A 47-year-old man allegedly stole a quantity of butchered meat from a supermarket at 7:40 p.m. on Saturday, August 3. He was subsequently apprehended in the Clydebank area after officers heard him attempting to sell the stolen steaks. Upon searching the man, the stolen meat was reportedly recovered.
