On Thursday, August 15, 2024, a fire broke near Denton Road, engulfing a section of heathland and undergrowth. The Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene, where four fire engines were dispatched to tackle the blaze. Firefighters used hose reel jets, beaters, and specialized wildfire equipment to bring the flames under control. The incident, which began at 4.34pm, was successfully contained by 5.48pm, preventing the fire from spreading further. No injuries were reported.
