Fire crews are battling a large blaze at a car garage unit.
Five fire engines are at the scene of the industrial complex in Alexandra Road, Margate.
Crews were called shortly before 5am and are using main jets to extinguish the blaze.
Photos from the scene show thick plumes of smoke billowing into the air and over neighbouring homes.
The front of the unit, which adjoins an MOT centre, appears to have sustained serious damage and is partially collapsed.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: “Crews are advising people living or travelling near Alexandra Road, Margate, to avoid the area as crews extinguish an industrial unit fire.
“Please share this information with any loved ones in the area who may be affected but do not have access to the internet.”
The fire service also confirmed they were flying a drone in the area.
