The pipe burst on Crown Lane in Bromley Common on Saturday evening, prompting the closure of the road and part of the footpath while repair teams worked to resolve the issue.

Thames Water has since isolated the damaged main and restored water supplies to affected properties, but repairs to the site are still ongoing.

A Thames Water spokesperson said: “We are sorry for the disruption caused by a burst water main in Bromley Common. The main has been isolated and our engineers are working to repair the issue and fix the damage caused by the burst as quickly as possible.

“This may take several days but we are trying to keep disruption to a minimum and hope to open a lane in Crown Lane as soon as it is safe to do so.”

The spokesperson confirmed that there is significant damage to the road, and teams are expected to remain on site for at least a week.

To ensure public safety, Crown Lane remains fully closed and traffic diversions are in place.

The spokesperson added: “Customer representatives were in Crown Lane yesterday and will remain there today.”

Motorists have been advised to allow extra time for journeys through the area due to the ongoing closure and diversions.

Thames Water said a further update will be provided by 2pm on Thursday, July 9.
