A spokesperson for the force told the Glasgow Times the search was in connection with an armed robbery.
They said: “Around 7.50pm on Thursday, June 18, 2026, we were called to a report of robbery involving a man armed with a knife on Britannia Way, Clydebank.
“A short foot chase followed, and a 16-year-old male was arrested and charged in connection. He is due to appear in court at a later date.
“Officers, including specialist resources from Police Scotland’s Dive and Marine Unit, have carried out further enquiries into the incident.”
This comes after several police officers were spotted diving in the canal by members of the public on June 24 and searching again on June 30, which, it is claimed, continued for three consecutive days.
