A 31-year-old man has been arrested
A man has been arrested following reports of someone acting suspiciously in South Belfast this morning.
Police were called to the Iverna Close area of the city at around 7.35am on Thursday, June 17, following reports of a male attempting to gain access to properties.
There were also reports that a male had been seen in the backgarden of a property in the Roosevelt Way area armed with a bottle, with police investigating a connection between the incidents.
A 31-year-old man has since been arrested on a number of offences which include; aggravated burglary, two counts of attempted burglary, possession of an offensive weapon, possessing an article with a blade or point in a public place and common assault.
He remains in police custody at this time.
Sergeant Shortt said: “Shortly before 7:35am, it was reported that a male was attempting to gain access to a number of properties in the area. Police also received a report of a male in the back garden of a property in the Roosevelt Way area of the city armed with a bottle. At this stage, police are investigating a link between these incidents.
“Officers attended and the man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary, two counts of attempted burglary, possession of an offensive weapon, possessing an article with a blade or point in a public place and common assault. He remains in police custody at this time.
