A video taken by a bystander this afternoon shows the brawl on Queen’s Road, which was broken up by police officers.

Sussex Police said it has made two arrests so far today. Follow for live updates.

The person who filmed the fight said: “It was getting a bit violent, I saw one of the fascists with blood on his face, protesters were throwing water and other drinks at them as well.”

According to them, among the drinks thrown was bubble tea.

Speaking about the general scenes in the city centre today, the bystander said: “I saw one woman telling three of the fascists who were leaving the protest to do one – one of them had a dog and was telling her to get back, while another was saying she lives in the city.

“I’d say there was around a dozen fascists, vastly outnumbered by the counter demonstrators.”

At least 2,500 people have turned out for today’s protests – one an anti-immigration rally, the other a counter anti-fascist protest.
