New data from property company John D Wood & Co. has revealed the UK’s top 20 neighbourhoods based on overall quality of life and community appeal.
Coming in at number five, Bromley was one of several south London areas to rank highly, placing just above Merton.
The list was created using multiple datasets covering factors such as anti-social behaviour, homeownership rates, access to green space, and the availability of cafés, pubs and community spaces, to identify the areas with the strongest overall community appeal.
Bromley scored particularly well for housing stability, ranking fifth for homeownership levels, indicating a settled, long-term resident base.
The data also found one of the biggest increases in community engagement, ranking second for growth in searches related to local events, despite placing 58th for overall search interest.

In terms of amenities, Bromley performed strongly, ranking eighth with 7.13 social amenities per 10,000 residents, giving residents good access to cafés, pubs and community spaces.
It ranked 25th for access to green space, placing it around the mid-point nationally, and 17th for anti-social behaviour.
However, the borough’s weaker areas included its ranking for council award wins, where it placed 39th compared to other locations.
What Green Flag parks are there in Bromley include Kelsey Park, Beckenham and Cator Park, whilst the area is also home to historic parks like Scadbury Park in Chislehurst and Bromley Palace Park, which recently served as a filming location for the new BBC Ghosts film.
