The Hufflers Arms has announced it will shut at the end of the month following a closing down party on June 27 to “celebrate all the memories, laughs, and great times we’ve shared together”.

The boozer, which has been serving the community in Hythe Street since the 18th century, thanked customers for every visit and encouraged them to join the team for “one last hurrah”.

In a Facebook post announcing the closure, it said: “It’s been an absolute pleasure serving you all here at The Hufflers Arms, Dartford, but we’ve got big news to share.

“We’re throwing our official closing down party on Saturday 27th June to celebrate all the memories, laughs, and great times we’ve shared together.

“Come join us for one last hurrah, raise a glass, and celebrate the history of The Hufflers Arms before the exciting new chapter begins.

“Thank you for every visit, every smile, and every memory.

“We couldn’t have asked for better customers.

“Here’s to the past, and to the brilliant future ahead.”

The pub is set to be replaced by a bar called The Yard with new owner Ricky Gottfried at the helm.

Ricky told the News Shopper he is planning a “full refurbishment” to update the interior, bar area and outdoor space, and hopes to open the new venue on July 4.

He said: “As the new owners, we’re incredibly excited to be taking over this well‑known Dartford venue and giving it a fresh new chapter.

“We know it holds plenty of memories for local people, and we want to respect its history while bringing something vibrant and modern to the area.

“We’re renaming it The Yard, and our vision is to turn it into a proper, welcoming community bar with a fantastic beer garden and terrace — perfect for drinks all year round.”
