Volunteers from RNLI Shoreham Lifeboat Station were called into action yesterday (May 29) following reports of two people in an inflatable dinghy struggling near Brighton Marina.
A fisherman who alerted the coastguard to the incident said that the dinghy was being washed into the marina wall as those inside tried to row.

RNLI crewmen located the dinghy, which they said was not inflated properly. They added that the people in the dinghy had no way of calling for help.
The RNLI crew then pulled the dinghy into the safety of the beach at Blackrock.
Lifeboat coxswain Simon Williams said that the dinghy riders were “fortunate” to have been spotted by the fisherman.
A spokesperson for RNLI Shoreham Lifeboat Station said: “Our all weather launched on service on Friday to two people in difficulty on board an inflatable dinghy off Brighton Marina.
“A fisherman reported that the vessel was being washed into the marina wall as they tried to row it.
“We located the pair and found that the dinghy was not inflated properly and they had no means of being able to call for help.
“We towed them back to the safety of Blackrock Beach where they were met by the local volunteer coastguard team.”
Lifeboat coxswain Simon Williams said: “The casualties were fortunate that they were spotted by the fisherman who called the coastguard.
“Always make sure you can call for assistance if you need it and let someone know your return time before going afloat.”
