Bromley Council has granted permission for new signs, lights and a fresh lick of paint at the Swan & Mitre in Bromley High Street.
The proposals, approved on May 22, include a new picture panel, a door plaque, a welcome sign, an amenity board and a long sign with the pub name across the front of the building – all installed by Ashleigh Signs.
Five window graphics will also be replaced, while the boozer will be repainted in black and cream, with white for the logo and gold lettering for the name.
The lighting changes include one lantern and three floodlights.
In the design and access statement, pub owner Greene King said: “The proposed signs are to replace the existing signs which due to age and condition do not reflex the high standards of a Greene King pub/restaurant.
“All existing signs will be removed and any fixing holes made good before the building is repainted by the main contractor.
“The signs have been designed to enhance the building’s special features and any illumination will be warm white and directed down onto the building or signage to prevent any light spillage.”
No objections were lodged against the proposals and the planning officer concluded that the signs would “preserve the character, appearance and significance” of the building, which is listed.
The Swan & Mitre was once a coaching inn and has origins dating back to the 17th century.
