One of the women reportedly suffered serious injuries, including a broken nose
A South Belfast man received a suspended sentence after admitting to knocking down three women in the City Centre while drink driving.
Declan Gray of Ormeau Road appeared at Belfast Laganside Court on Wednesday, May 20, after being charged with multiple offences following an incident on July 17, 2025, on Donegall Square East. He was charged with driving whilst unfit through drink and causing injury through careless driving.
The court heard that Gray had been drinking in a Belfast City Centre bar and had “took a chance” going home in his car when he collided with three women as they were crossing the road heading towards the direction of the alley beside Thompson’s Garage nightclub.
One of the women reportedly suffered serious injuries, including a broken nose.
The court heard that at the time of the incident Gray was under “severe pressure” as the sole carer for his teenage daughter who had additional needs and this had been the first time he had a night out in some time.
Gray was described as being regretful about what had happened with the incident being a “one-off” that was out of character for him.
Gray received a three month prison sentence suspended for 12 months for driving while unfit and a £300 fine for careless driving. He was also disqualified from driving for 16 months.
