This afternoon, May 16, DJ Norman Cook joined the RNLI fundraising team outside Churchill Square, in Brighton.
As well as raising money for the charity, the team was out speaking with the public about the organisation’s work, the importance of sea safety and how donations directly fund crew kit and equipment.
Many members of the public stopped to meet Norman, taking pictures and learning more about the charity.

Norman said: “The RNLI does incredible work around our coast, and in a city like Brighton that means a lot to people.
“I’ve supported them for twenty years and even had to call them out when my kids got in to trouble – the work they do is fantastic.
“It was great to spend some time with the team today, to learn more about the charity and the people involved, and support such an important cause.”
He added: “Thank you to everyone who has donated today, thanks to Churchill Square for having us, thanks to all the volunteers and everyone who runs the RNLI – those on the boats but also the support teams I’ve got to know today – they are heroes too.”

The volunteer-led organisation is dedicated to saving lives at sea, operating a 24-hour search and rescue service.
The charity is primarily funded by charitable donations, with 90% of its total funding coming from the generosity of the public.
Charlotte Magan, Community Manager for the RNLI, said: “We were thrilled to welcome Norman along to meet our team in Brighton today.
“The RNLI relies on public support and having someone so closely connected to the city helping us raise awareness was fantastic.
“Thank you Norman for giving up your time and to all the public who generously donated to help the RNLI keep us safe this summer.”
