She will play Mavis in a new tour of Richard Harris’s Stepping Out at the Churchill Theatre. The show will run at the Churchill Theatre from September 22 to 26.
Stepping Out tells the story of a group of mismatched amateur tap dancers preparing for a charity gala performance.
Despite a series of missteps and mishaps, the group proves that ordinary people can do something extraordinary.

Ms Hauer said: “I’m so pleased to be performing in this brand-new production of Stepping Out. It’s a play about ordinary people achieving extraordinary things through dance and in the role of their teacher and mentor, it certainly resonates with me.
“I’m looking forward to dusting off my tap shoes and working with a great company of actors and dancers to bring this heart-warming, feel-good comedy to the stage.”
Ms Hauer is the longest-serving female professional dancer on BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing, having appeared on the show for 14 years from 2012 to 2025.
Director Chris Jordan said: “I am absolutely delighted to have Karen joining us for Stepping Out this summer. We’re going to have so much fun, as are our audiences.
“Karen is such a well-loved dancer from her years working on Strictly as teacher and mentor to so many different partners and that is why this role, in this play, is such a great fit for her.”
The production comes from Eastbourne Theatres and Trafalgar Entertainment, whose past work includes The Invisible Man and The Play What I Wrote. Further casting will be announced soon.
