Glasgow city centre road to close for more than a week - UK Daily: Tech, Science, Business & Lifestyle News Updates



In order to resurface West George Street between Buchanan Street and George Square, the road will be closed from the east side of the junction of West Nile Street to George Square from 6am on Monday, May 18.

It will reopen at 5pm on Wednesday, May 27.

The work comes ahead of the reopening of the north side of George Square on June 7.

Nelson Mandela Place will be accessible via Bath Street and Buchanan Street from 6pm to 10am, exiting via Buchanan Street and St Vincent Place.

Anchor Lane will also be closed as the north end will be blocked by the closure of West George Street.

A temporary 24-hour taxi rank will be formed on the east side of North Hanover Street, between Cathedral Street and George Square.

Eastbound traffic will be diverted via West George Street, north on West Nile Street, east on Killermont Street, north on Hanover Street, north on Kyle Street, east on Baird Street, south on Carlisle Street, and west on George Street, with the diversion ending at the junction with Montrose Street.
