Bromley Franco Manca restaurant set to close after restructure - UK Daily: Tech, Science, Business & Lifestyle News Updates

The closure announcement is part of a company voluntary arrangement (CVA), in which nine branches in the capital and seven outside London will close, putting around 225 jobs at risk.

Among the branches set to close are Bromley, Battersea and Brixton.

An exact date for the Bromley closure has not been set, but it is believed the sites will close between May and June this year following the announcement made by the parent company on May 5.

The affected restaurants were deemed to be “no longer sustainable” due to “disproportionately high” UK taxes and a lack of business rates relief for restaurants.

The restructuring proposal went ahead after it was backed by 90 per cent of creditors.

Marcel Khan, chief executive of Fulham Shore, said: “We are grateful for the support shown by our creditors.

“Franco Manca is a fantastic brand with a strong heritage and loyal customer base.

“With this agreement in place, we will put the business back on a firm footing and press ahead with strengthening our customer offer and performance.”

Paul Berkovi, managing director of Alvarez & Marsal, said: “Against a challenging backdrop for the sector, this is an important step for Franco Manca, enabling the business to complete its financial restructuring and secure the platform for its operational transformation.”
