This will affect drivers travelling between Kent and Essex until Wednesday, April 1.
The closures are part of an ongoing maintenance programme by National Highways to keep the crossing safe and operational for the more than 180,000 vehicles it carries every day.
A spokesman for National Highways said: “We’re carrying out an extensive programme of repairs and maintenance work over the next several years to keep journeys safe and reliable for road users.
To keep disruption to a minimum, we carry out our work overnight, typically between the hours of 10pm and 6am.”
The Dartford Crossing, also known as the A282, connects directly at both ends with the M25 London Orbital Motorway.
It serves as a critical part of the motorway network and regularly sees traffic volumes exceed its designed daily capacity of 135,000 vehicles.
The upcoming tunnel closures are necessary to allow maintenance on ventilation systems, including jet fans, as well as general survey work.
From March 26 to April 1, the following closures are planned:
- Thursday, March 26: Dartford east tunnel, 10pm to 5.30am (no access for vehicles over 4.8m).
- Friday, March 27: Dartford east tunnel, 11pm to 6am (no access for vehicles over 4.8m).
- Saturday, March 28: Dartford west tunnel, 10pm to 5am.
- Sunday, March 29: Dartford east tunnel, 10pm to 5am (no access for vehicles over 4.8m).
- Monday, March 30 to Wednesday, April 1: Dartford west tunnel, 10pm to 5.30am.
Vehicles less than 4.8m (15ft 9in) will be diverted via the Dartford Crossing west tunnel, while vehicles between 4.8m (15ft 9in) and 5.0m (16ft 6in) will be diverted via the M25 clockwise.
Please remember closures can change at short notice.
The maintenance programme at the Dartford Crossing is expected to continue for several years, with overnight works scheduled to minimise disruption to the tens of thousands of journeys that rely on the route daily.
