Fire crews returned to the scene early this morning after a blaze at a derelict building in Rathcoole, Belfast flared up again
Firefighters were called back to the site of a blaze on Doagh Road in Rathcoole, after the fire reignited just hours after being extinguished.
NIFRS crews initially attended the incident on Monday evening to tackle a fire at a two-storey derelict property. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus brought the blaze under control and left the scene at 11.15pm.
However, crews were called out again at 5.01am on Tuesday morning, after the fire flared up once more.

One appliance and one Hazmat appliance from Whitla Fire Station attended the scene, supported by one appliance and an aerial appliance from Springfield Fire Station, as well as two appliances from Glengormley Fire Station.
A NIFRS spokesman said the initial cause of the fire is believed to have been deliberate ignition.
They added: “Firefighters were called to reports of a fire at a two-storey derelict property on Doagh Road, Rathcoole, Belfast. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire.
“Firefighters left the scene at 11.15pm but were called back at 5.01am this morning (Tuesday 31 March 2026) as the fire had reignited.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. The cause of the reignition is believed to be accidental and Firefighters left the scene at 12.35pm.”
