Alan Carr has bought the historic Ayton Castle in the Scottish Borders, moving out of the Horsham home he once shared with his ex-husband.
It has been reported that the popular star was inspired by his time last year at Ardross Castle when he took part and won the BBC’s Celebrity Traitors.
Alan confirmed his purchase of the Scottish castle and revealed that he will be getting a new title alongside it.

Alan Carr to get new title amid leaving Sussex for Scotland
Speaking to the Staying Relevant podcast, Alan said: “I have bought it.
“Someone said someone else has bought it, but no, I have.
“I haven’t been this excited about a project for ages.
“I’ve got the survey now and I’m waiting for the keys to come.
“I’ll be a baron and I’ll be getting my own tartan — I might get a nice man up there.”
Ayton Castle in the Scottish Borders, which was purchased for £3.25 million, is a 19th-century estate and comes with 160 acres and its own working railway.
Carr’s move away from Sussex to the stately home will be documented in a new Disney show entitled Castle Man.
He previously said he was looking for a new start as he was still living in the home he had shared with ex-husband Paul Drayton after the couple divorced in 2022.
According to reports, Alan now has the right to a feudal barony, which dates back to 1324.
It is mentioned in the property’s brochure, which says: “This is a feudal barony and was associated with the ownership of land and certain historical rights, rather than a title of nobility conferred by the Crown.”
When is Alan Carr’s Castle Man releasing on Disney+?
Disney+ confirmed the series earlier this year, teasing: “After spending his twenties on the comedy circuit, his thirties in TV studios, and his forties becoming a national treasure, Alan Carr is now ready to take on the biggest gig of his life: purchasing and running a historic castle.”
“With Alan’s 50th birthday fast approaching, he finds himself at a moment of reckoning, taking stock of where he is and where he wants to be.
“He has long dreamed of owning a grand château, but after a transformative and iconic stay at The Traitor’s castle, that fantasy will now become a reality – or will it?
“He doesn’t just want to visit a castle, he wants to build a life in one, a leap of faith driven entirely by Alan himself.”
Alan said at the time: “Some men, when they have a midlife crisis buy a Lamborghini or grow a ponytail, but me – I want my very own castle .
“Since I was a boy in Northampton, I’ve always dreamt big, and have always been enchanted with the history and romance of a stately home and as I turn fifty, I feel it’s my time.
“All I want is a turret to call my own – get me over that drawbridge!”
Castle Man is produced by Expectation, the award-winning production company behind Clarkson’s Farm and Alma’s Not Normal.
Alan was spotted filming the show in Scotland in February 2026 after purchasing the castle, according to reports.
A release date, however, has not yet been confirmed.
