Sussex luxury retreat showing on Channel 4’s Grand Designs

The story of Dan and Nina creating the Water Shed will once again be shown on Grand Designs this evening (March 16), on More4.

In the episode, Grand Designs host Kevin McCloud meets architectural designer Dan and interior designer Nina, who want to build a “sleek, unique family house”.

It will tell their story of how they turned a plot in Bosham, near Chichester, which was “dominated by a swampy pond”, into a “biodiverse waterscape” with a floating house above it.

The episode featuring Dan and Nina originally aired in 2021, and the couple’s success has been well documented.

As their website on the property explains, the whole process of them designing and building the house was filmed for Grand Designs.

Today, the property is frequently used as a photographic location by luxury brands, including The White Company, Rolls-Royce and Apple.

Daniel and Nina also have a practice that integrates architecture, interiors and nature, called Studio Fuse.

In the episode, host Kevin says that Dan and Nina create “a slice of heaven on earth” with the finished property.

Today, guests can stay at the Water Shed, which boasts a natural swimming pond, steaming wood-fired hot tub, private tennis court and sauna cabin.

The award-winning property is also used for events, weddings and photo shoots.

As well as featuring on Grand Designs, the project has appeared in various publications including The Sunday Times, Country Homes & Interiors and Modern Rustic.

It also won the prestigious Residential Award in the Sussex Heritage Trust Awards 2022.

The episode detailing the project will be on More4 tonight (March 16) at 7.55pm.

What is Grand Designs about?

Grand Designs has been broadcast on Channel 4 since 1999 and is presented by Kevin McCloud.

Episodes show McCloud meeting clients embarking on a large building project and following the progress of the build.

A final visit to the home is made later in the episodes, when it is finished, and a tour is given.

If a house is not completed before filming ends, it will sometimes be revisited in a later episode.

Properties featured in Grand Designs have varied from underground homes to converted water towers.
