Parents across the borough found out this week on March 2 which secondary school their child has been offered a place as part of National Secondary School Offer Day.
Parents must then accept or decline the offer by the deadline stated in their notification. Those who are unhappy with their allocated school have the right to appeal or join waiting lists.
Ahead of the new intake of pupils this year, data from the Department for Education (DfE) has revealed how secondary schools in Dartford are performing at GCSE level.
The figures are based on Attainment 8 scores, which measure the average achievement of pupils across eight qualifications.
These include English and maths (which are double weighted), three English Baccalaureate (EBacc) subjects such as sciences, history, geography or languages, and three additional approved qualifications.
Schools are ranked by their Attainment 8 score.
However, a school’s score does not necessarily reflect its overall quality, as factors such as selectivity, intake ability and cohort size can all influence results.
In Dartford most of the schools are academies, meaning they are government funded but run by an academy trust rather than a local authority.
