Lynette and Chris Turner have started More Than Loft Ladders (MTLL) Portsmouth and West Sussex, a company specialising in professional loft access and storage solutions.

To mark the occasion, the pair hosted a community event in Selsey on Monday, February 23, held at KIND: Coffee & Eatery.

With a background in finance and banking, she explained that launching MTLL has allowed her to use her organisational and business expertise while gaining the flexibility she was seeking around her role as a foster parent.

Family, friends, and local residents gathered for the afternoon, which featured speeches, ribbon-cutting and ‘loft-themed fun.’

Guests enjoyed a vegan spread prepared by the KIND team, while gym-goers from the Thrive Health & Wellness Centre joined the celebration.

Attendees were also joined by MTLL’s mascot, Larry, who posed with the Turners for the official ribbon cutting.

Chris Turner, who has a background in home renovation, spoke about the decision to start the business.

Mr Turner said: “Having previously worked across a wide range of home renovation projects, no two days were the same.

“One day I could have been fitting a kitchen and the next be transforming a garden.

“I felt it was time to specialise in one area of home improvement and build something solid for the future that also gives us the flexibility as a family to pursue other important passions – like mum’s foster care work.”

Since launching at the end of last year, the Turners have already completed dozens of projects across Portsmouth, West Sussex and the surrounding areas.

Their business offers the installation of loft ladders, hatches, boarding, insulation and lighting, helping households create safe and accessible storage space without the need for a full loft conversion.

Demand has exceeded expectations, and the Turners are now looking to expand their team.

With their first community event a success and a full schedule of bookings, the family says they are optimistic about the future.
