Fans flocked to the comments to share their sadness at the news. One said: “Nooooo this is devasting – where else will I get authentic Mexican food now?!!!”
Another added: “Okay… any script writers out there? Some legendary stories in that corner of The Hidden Lane! Definitely a Netfix saga…many episodes of fun and scary times @rafasdiner 4ever.”
While a third asked in desperation: “This is worse than heartbreak pls say you’re just moving?”
The restaurant’s account confirmed below that they were not relocating and that they had pop-ups booked throughout the year for fans to still try and grab a bite of their food.
We reported in November that the business was up for sale.
A posting on the website Rightbiz at the time noted that rent sits at £14,400 (£1,200 a month) with a turnover of £273,000 (£5,250 a week).
The beloved spot first opened in 2020 and the listing stated that four staff members were employed at Rafa’s.
