Gas Pro Solutions provides installations and servicing of boilers and central heating systems across central Scotland and at the helm is Andy Allison, a former Scottish Gas engineer, who made the choice to establish his own firm so that he could provide customers with the service which he believed they deserved.
“So many people had told me that I should be working for myself that when there was a period of reorganisation in the workplace I finally decided to take the chance and I haven’t regretted it,” he says.
After carrying out the first few jobs under his own company label, Andy found very quickly that the referrals were beginning to role in and now, just five years later, at least 90% of all enquiries to Gas Pro Solutions come about through recommendations from customers who have been delighted with the service that Andy and his team has delivered for them.
Andy says: “It starts with listening to the customer and providing them with what they have asked for, instead of imposing a ready-made solution on them. When it comes to fitting new boilers, we provide fully-costed options and a range of warranties and let them decide which one is best for their situation.”
Good communication also plays an important part in the service, with all enquiries responded to within 24 hours, and then there are the simple courtesies that make such a big difference.
“When our engineers turn up at someone’s home they will always stop at the front door and pull on overshoes before stepping inside and, at the end of a job, they will clear up before they leave. It’s all about looking after the customer at every stage of the job and leaving them happy with what we have done for them.”
As well as working for domestic customers and businesses such as hairdressers, Gas Pro Solutions also provides services to landlords and letting agents, carrying out repairs and safety certifications. The company is also qualified to handle LPG appliances and it works for a number of holiday parks across Ayrshire, carrying out maintenance and checks to caravans and lodges.
From the early days, when he worked by himself, Andy now has a trusted team of engineers, back office staff and also an apprentice, Josh Strachan, a former winner of the ‘Plumbing Apprentice of the Year’ title and who, by the time he is fully qualified later this year, will also bring the most up-to-date heat pump expertise to his role.
“We have been looking very closely into the heat pump side of the business and we will soon be able to offer this as an option to customers, alongside all of our regular services,” says Andy.
Meanwhile the company’s social media posts continue to fill up with impressive before-and-after images of new boilers, contemporary radiators and gas fires that have been expertly serviced, alongside an seemingly endless stream of five star reviews from delighted customers, keen to share their positive experiences of having Andy and his team resolve their heating issues.
In one of more than 100 top-rated reviews, one customer said: “Fabulous service from Andy and his sidekick. Friendly, professional and competitive. When I had an issue with my boiler I called Gas Pro Solutions and Andy arrived quickly and gave me the diagnosis.
