The Derby, located on Clarkston Road in Netherlee, has hit the market as the current owner is set to retire after 35 years.

The sale of the cafe, which has an annual rent of £26,400, comes with its nationally recognised ice cream recipe.

The unit is split down the middle with confectionery, gifts and ice cream sold on one side and a bistro with a service counter on the other.

There is seating for 18 people, with additional seating outdoors.

The business is described as “one of Glasgow Southside’s most recognisable institutions”.

In a post shared on Facebook, The Derby said the business will continue to operate once new owners are found.

The post read: “As many of youse may have seen, it’s with a heavy heart to announce the cafe is up for sale.

“It’s time for Allison to enjoy retirement life.

“The Derby will still be operating just under new management when the time comes.

“We can’t thank all our customers enough for supporting the cafe and making the shop the great place it is.”

Fans of the cafe took to the comments to wish Allison well in her retirement.

One person wrote: “Oh goodness I am so sorry to hear this.

The Derby Cafe has been a beloved destination for ice cream fans since 1945 and is known for its signature vanilla flavour.

The business is being sold by the Scottish Business Agency, with leasehold offers invited.
