The southbound traffic on the QEII Bridge will be stopped overnight on Saturday, February 28, from 10pm to 5am.
The maintenance and inspections are part of routine checks to ensure safety and smooth operation of the bridge.
Southbound traffic will be redirected through a contraflow system in the Dartford east tunnel from 9.30pm.
Meanwhile, the Dartford west tunnel will remain open for northbound traffic throughout the night.
However, there will be a height restriction for vehicles travelling northbound, limited to those between 4.8m (15’9”) and 5.0m (16’6”) high.
It is important to note that closures can change at short notice.
Additional closures are scheduled for the weekend.
On Friday, February 27, the Dartford west tunnel will be closed from 11pm to 6am.
The Dartford Crossing, comprising the QEII bridge and two tunnels, is a key route for road users, linking Essex and Kent.
The crossing is the only way to cross the Thames east of London by road.
The QEII bridge is primarily used by traffic heading southbound, while the two 1.4km-long tunnels carry traffic northbound.
The A282 connects directly at both ends with the M25 London Orbital Motorway, which is one of the busiest motorways in Europe.
With the QEII bridge closing, the east tunnel will be used as a diversion for southbound traffic.
Northbound traffic below 4.8m will use the west tunnel as normal.
Vehicles between 4.8m and 5.0m high will be diverted elsewhere.
For the east tunnel closure, vehicles under 4.8m high will use the west tunnel, while those between 4.8m and 5.0m will be diverted to the M25 clockwise.
When the west tunnel is closed, drivers will be directed to the east tunnel.
