Joao Teixeira admitted running online groups as part of an organised crime gang which shared images of children as young as three months old.

Teixeira, 26, from Eastbourne was in charge of a dark net group, and also operated on messaging apps Telegram and Signal.

Lewes Crown Court heard his offending involved children as young as three and babies.

His Honour Judge Stephen Mooney described his offending as deeply shocking.

He said: “I’ve never seen a case like this before and I never want to see one like it again.”

The court heard Teixeira administered groups and sharing platforms for videos of children being abused and raped.

Rebecca Austin for the Crown said his own chat records showed Teixeira was interested in very young children.

Teixeira has been sentenced to 11 years in prison (Image: NCA)

He shared hyper-realistic images as well as real children.

He shared AI sexual abuse images of toddlers and babies being sexually abused.

He facilitated the sexual abuse of children and encouraged others to film themselves raping children.

Teixeira was identified by the National Crime Agency from his phone number and arrested.

NCA officers raided his house in February 2024 and seized a number of devices.

Police found 17,005 files on his computers showing images of child sex abuse.

Teixeira was released on bail but was arrested again in November 2025 after he continued to offend online.

His Honour Judge Mooney said no sentence he could pass would undo the lifetime of damage his offences have caused.

“How you could be so cruel?” the judge asked him.

NCA Senior Investigating Officer Danielle Pownall said: “Teixeira actively sought out online communities where he could indulge in his predatory desires.

“He was trying to conceal his online activities whilst looking for likeminded people to engage in child abuse offences.

“The fact he went beyond the digital world and encouraged another user to abuse children shows the threat he poses to society.

“Anyone who thinks they can use the internet to hide their crimes is gravely mistaken.

“The NCA will continue to hunt down perpetrators of child sexual abuse and bring them to justice.”

Teixeira pleaded guilty to 12 counts on December 10, last year.

He clutched a set of rosary beads in court as he was sentenced to a total of 11 years and four months in prison.

The groups he ran shared thousands of images and videos of children under 12.

He ran an online sharing site called Shota Heaven and another Telegram chat group called Naughty Room 3.0.

Both groups shared the most serious child sex abuse images and videos.

Teixeira also admitted possession of more than 13,000 prohibited images of children.

He also admitted facilitating the sexual exploitation of children.

The court heard he was part of an organised crime group which shared images through the dark net and messaging apps.

He was sentenced to 11 years and four months, an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and an indefinite Sexual Risk Order.
