The essential engineering work will take place over the February half-term, with trains replaced by buses on key routes and timetable changes across parts of the network.
The main closure will run for nine days, from Saturday, February 14 to Sunday, February 22.
Southeastern and Thameslink services through Dartford will be suspended on certain routes, with accessible replacement buses operating instead.
Passengers are being advised to allow extra time, particularly during weekday peak hours and busier times of the day.
Train services affected
From February 14 to February 22, replacement buses will run between Gravesend and Dartford, connecting passengers towards Crayford, Barnehurst and Slade Green.
Train services into London will continue to run via the Sidcup, Bexleyheath and Woolwich lines, although passengers should expect timetable changes.
Passenger information: what to expect
- No Southeastern or Thameslink services will operate between Slade Green, Barnehurst, Crayford and Gravesend via Dartford.
- No Thameslink services will run between Plumstead and Gravesend. An hourly Thameslink shuttle will operate between Gravesend and Rainham.
- All Southeastern metro routes into London via Sidcup, Bexleyheath and Woolwich will continue to run, but with amended timetables. Extra services will operate on the Bexleyheath line.

- Dartford
- Stone Crossing
- Greenhithe (for Bluewater)
- Swanscombe
- Northfleet

Replacement buses will run on a number of services:
Gravesend to Slade Green, calling at Northfleet, Swanscombe, Greenhithe, Stone Crossing and Dartford (around 47 minutes)
- Four buses per hour Monday to Saturday
- Two buses per hour on Sundays
Dartford to Crayford (around 8 minutes)
- Four buses per hour Monday to Saturday
- Two buses per hour on Sundays
Dartford to Barnehurst (around 10 minutes)
- Four buses per hour Monday to Saturday
- Two buses per hour on Sundays
Dartford to Slade Green (around 14 minutes)
- Extra weekday service, four buses per hour Monday to Friday
Rail engineers will be carrying out a £10 million track upgrade to improve performance and reliability at Dartford Junction.
The work includes renewing 10 switches and crossings, also known as points, which allow trains to change direction, and laying around 400 yards of new rail between Slade Green and Dartford.
Additional closures
As well as the February half-term shutdown, there will be further closures on Sunday, March 1 and Sunday, April 5.
Replacement buses will also run on these days.
