A spokesman for Sussex Police has confirmed that the collision involved a car and a cyclist and that the cyclist has been taken to hospital with a potentially serious injury.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “Emergency services were called to the Aquarium Roundabout on the A259 in Brighton to reports of a collision between a car and a cyclist at around 10.50am on Saturday (14 February).
“The cyclist – a man in his 50s – reported the driver exited his vehicle and assaulted him, before leaving the scene.
“He has been taken to hospital with a potentially serious hip injury.
“Enquiries are ongoing to identify and locate the driver. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police online or via 101, quoting serial 376 of 14/02.”
